Charging in your home will have two options.

Level 1 – This can be plugged into any standard home outlet and will return a charge rate of up to 3 miles per hour.

Level 2 – This is considered a fast charger and charges up to 44 miles per hour.

Every home is unique, but most typical installations are between $600 and $1,600. An onsite evaluation will include a load analysis of your home to determine if your electrical service can handle the charging demand. If not, we have solutions available to keep the cost down.

Yes. Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station Rebate – United Cooperative Services (UCS) offers residential customers a rebate of 50% of the cost to install a Level 2 EV charging station, up to $500. All electric vehicles come with the same J1772 charger connection except for Tesla which has its own connector. Adapters can be purchased to go from J1772 to Tesla and vice-versa.

Place all charging device components out of reach of children when not in use. Maintain the components of your charging station according to the manufacturer’s maintenance guidelines. Signs of excessive wear may indicate a potential shock hazard. Never use an EV charger with obvious signs of damage.

Unlicensed installers often cut corners and use cheap unsafe materials. This has caused fires at the outlet and issues with electrical panels.

To figure out your cost of charging at home, multiply your vehicle’s kWh/100 miles figure by the electricity rate — the cost per kWh — for the time of day you will most often be charging (more about that later). The output will be the cost per 100 miles.
